Reading is fundamental, folks. I have always enjoyed reading for pleasure, but had a rocky relationship with reading to learn in my late teens and early twenties — the exact point at which the density and difficulty of reading material in my life ramped up to the max. After completing my first masters program, wrapping up a nonstop 21 year journey as a student, I “took a break” from reading and only cracked open a book on vacation at the beach or by the pool. I read maybe 2-3 books per year MAX. How sad! During the 2020 lockdowns, I thankfully rediscovered my love for reading as an escape from the difficulties of the real world and I began finding joy in tracking the books I read. Formerly a GoodReads girlie and now a devoted Fabled convert, I have developed yearly reading goals from 10 to 22 books per year, and I’m currently siting at 25 books completed books with several months left to go in 2025! The joy those numbers bring me are not in comparison to the goals of other — choosing to read is what matters, not what you read or how much you read — but rather in my own growth from one year to the next. This list I’m sharing with you is not totally exhaustive and does not include opinions or ratings of each book, but instead displays the breadth and depth of ideas I have explored over my last decade of life. I have a very eclectic reading pallet, and there’s a little something for everyone, so I hope this post inspires you to pick up a book and read!
